Day One: July 14th: Fly to Vancouver, take an Aquabus Ferry to Granville Island and transfer and board the Island Princess for an unforgettable tour of Alaska and the Yukon.
Day Two: July 15th: Cruise the Inside Passage also known by locals as "the panhandle", a narrow strip featuring islands, mainland communities and mountains that run from the Canadian Border in the south to the start of the gulf in the north just above the Juneau/Haines/Skagway area. Get your camera out-You'll be in awe of the scenery that you will pass on your way to your first port of call...
Day Three: July 16th: Ketchikan, Alaska. Stroll down historic Creek Street to Dolly's House which will give you a glimpse into the bawdy ways of frontier life. Or venture outside town to see a forest of hand-carved totem poles. Alaska's frist city is built out over the water and set amidst the country's largest national forest. Kayak the misty fjourds or hike up Deer Mountain.
Day Four: July 17th: Juneau, Alaska, is often described as America's most charming State Capital. Situated among mountains and ocean, it is approachable only by sea and air. Explore Mendenhall Glacier, a 12 mile river of ice or enjoy whale and wildlife viewing from a catamaran, or tour the Alaska State Museum featurning artifacts from Eskimo, Aleut, Athabaskan and Northwest Coast Indian Tribes.
Day Five: July 18th: Skagway-charming and immensely walkable-Skagway has been restored to its 19th century "gold rush" charm. Learn about the Klondike Gold Rush and travel by train or bus to Klondike Gold National Park. Take the Skagway Street Car which encompasses the waterfront, historic district and scenic viewpoints. Day Six: July 19th: Glacier Bay National Park for scenic cruising. This jewel of the National Park System is known for its regal snow-capped mountain ranges, coastal beaches and-of course-those majestic glaciers. The wildlife viewing is also plentiful with bald eagles, puffins, porpoises, seals, sea otters and whales. Lectures by our onboard naturalist will inform passengers of the ecological impact of the area on wildlife. Glacier Bay National Park Rangers are also available onboard to discuss the area and its evolution as a glacial wonder.
Day Seven: July 20th: College Fjord scenic cruising; Glide into the home of Prince William Sound's breathtaking tidewater glaciers. Named after Ivy League Colleges, these 16 sparkling rivers of ice surround you on both starboard and port-showing off the awesome wonder of nature.
Day Eight: July 21st: Disembark at the Dock in Whittier, Alaska, and either tranfer to the Anchorage Airport or continue on our Denali National Park Extension by train: Direct to the Wilderness Princess Rail service is one of many highlights on this unforgettable Alaska Adventure. Traveling to Denali National Park with magnificent scenery and friendly Princess Service gets your land trip off to an incredible start. Observe magnificent scenery and wildlife on your way to Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge. Explore the stately Main Lodge with its cozy seating areas and welcoming fireplace. Enjoy views of the grounds framed by a 30 foot wall of windows. The entire Lodge overlooks the mountain, forest and river setting.
Day Nine: July 22nd: Denali to Mount McKinley; Today's educational park excursion reveals an amazing tapestry of wildlife and tundra scenery crowned by a grand mountain range. Later, travel by motorcoach to the Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge for a night spent in the company of North America's mightiest peak.
Day Ten: July 23rd: Wake to a hearty breakfast, fresh mountain air and a horse-drawn wagon ride complete with tall tales told by local wranglers in full Western regalia- a popular optional tour. Sightseeing via motorcoach showcases the scenic George Parks Highway and a stay in Anchorage on gorgeous Cook Inlet puts the finishing touch on your Alaska Journey.
Day Eleven: July 24th: Return home!
The Island Princess Alaska Cruise Participation Fee begins at $1950 per person based on double occupancy and cabin choice subject to availability and includes:
- Round-trip Airfare from Denver to Vancouver and Anchorage to Denver (other departure cities will be priced accordingly)
- Cruise (standard cabin-double occupancy-upgrades available upon request)
