Springtime In Historic New England

May 26-30, 2007


Day 1:
Lexington
  Fly from Denver. Arrive in Boston and take a walking tour of the "Freedom Trail" visiting the site of the Boston Massacre, the Old North Church, The Granary Burial Ground and Paul Revere's Home. A Cruise down the Charles River and a visit to the Boston Aquarium complete today's tour. Dinner at the Wayside Inn, famous for Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem. Stay Marlborough, Massachusetts.
Day 2:
Concord
  Travel to Newport, Rhode Island, and visit the mansions of Newport featured in the film The Great Gatsby and home to the "jazz age" millionaires. Take the Cliff Walk overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Stay Marlborough.
Day 3:
 

Visit the Battle Sites at Lexington and Concord. Visit the famous homes of authors Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson and Louisa May Alcott. Visit the site of the "Shot Heard Round The World."

Harvard
Day 4:
 

Salem, historic sites of the "Infamous Witch Trials," provides a backdrop for reenactments of the court proceedings and the Salem Village Replication of daily life. Visit the famous "House of the Seven Gables" made famous by Nathaniel Hawthorne.

Boston

Day 5:

 

Tour the Cambridge area of Boston and visit historic Harvard University. Other College visits will be available to: the University of Massachusetts, MIT, Boston University and Northeastern University. Return to Denver.
